This course examines the polity of the church from a Brethren and Believers’ Church perspective. It provides an overview of the organizational structure of the Brethren Church at the local, regional and national levels. Consideration is given to both the doctrine and practice of the ordinances. It will familiarize the student with all the documents used by the Brethren Church to define, govern, and practice its polity at all levels.
NOTE:
If you have enrolled in this class for the purpose of furthering your ordination process with the Brethren Church, please note that you are required to attend 8 of the 9 online cohort meetings. Detailed information regarding the cohort gatherings will be sent to all enrolled participants prior to the first cohort meeting.

Your Instructor
Emery serves as the Lead Pastor for the Cheyenne Brethren Church, and is a graduate of Ashland Theological Seminary. He and his wife Sue have two adult children and have the joy of being grandparents. Over the many years of service to the Brethren Church, Emery has served in various national and regional roles helping to advance the ministry of the Brethren and the Kingdom of Christ. Emery has a passion for helping to prepare young leaders for ministry in the Brethren Church.
